More about Deborah Crooks:
Crooks' lyric-driven and soul-wise music has drawn comparison to Lucinda Williams, Chrissie Hynde and Natalie Merchant. The San Francisco based
artist has had her tunes included on compilation CDs (including the Rocker Grrl
Magazine Discoveries CD)
and appeared on many stages including at Sunset Junction,
the Harmony Festival,
and California Music Fest.
She released a full-length CD Adding
Water to the Ashes (2008) that continues to receive radio
airplay and critical praise. She recently recorded a 5-song CD with Alex Walsh, dubbed the Crooks/Walsh Blues Project,
slated to be released in September, 2009, the same month she'll tour the
Northwest as part "Indie Abundance™ Music, Money & Mindfulness" a
campaign she co-founded with two other Bay Area artists. Deborah's songwriting
is backed by a firm commitment to faith practice and community: she's studied
Ashtanga Yoga for more than a decade in both the US and India as well as
Buddhism.
More about Jean Mazzei:
A diverse
and dynamic performer, Jean Mazzei is equally entertaining whether fronting her
rock band Flying Venus, playing a
jazz gig, or performing her solo acoustic 'caffeinated folk rock.' Captivating audiences with both her magnetic
stage presence and commitment to the art and craft of songwriting, she has
appeared on the Bay Area’s premier stages including The Little Fox Theater and The
Boom Boom Room and released five full-length CD's. Her song “Face of a Nation” won 4th placer in the Unisong International Song Contest (LUNCH category), while her
latest CD release, 2008’s Breathing Under Water, produced
by Grammy nominee Ronan Chris Murphy has aired on
more than 70 radio stations nationwide. When
not playing music, Jean inspires others as a yoga teacher. She is currently putting together a Yoga
Teacher Training (Sri (SHREE) Yoga Training Academy) which will train yoga
teachers to find their own voice as teachers, as well as deepening their yoga
practice. She will also be leading a Sri (shree) Yoga Retreat in Baja April 2-7 2010, called Finding
Balance: Yoga, Ayurveda, and Mantra.
